After a few weeks of stories in written form (see the list below, in case you missed them or want to revisit the series), it’s time to listen to another “Around the world” podcast.

My guest this week is Marco Toffanin, Head of the Multimedia Division at the Digital Learning and Multimedia Office of the University of Padova. Marco is a multimedia content design specialist, but also a video maker and musician. He is the author of hundreds of contents of different types: fiction and documentaries, soundtracks for movies, series and theatre, videos and motion graphics for scientific dissemination. Marco is also a professor in multimedia communication and he teaches in the communication programme at the same university.

In this podcast we talk about how Marco and his colleagues have been supporting faculty in using multimedia content in their teaching already before the pandemic and he reflects on how this dynamic has changed in the past two years. It was very interesting to hear how university structures are changing to accommodate new ways of teaching and learning and to hear about future plans for using multimedia in education at University of Padova. Marco talks about the important part that his own teaching experience plays in his faculty support role and about potential challenges for using multimedia in teaching. His message is an optimistic one, as he urges us all (faculty and faculty developers) to be curious and explore various media to create an engaging learning experience.

If you want to hear more, I kindly encourage you to listen to the podcast.
